How to find the best current deals on outdoor gear

Hey there–I’m so glad you dropped by little biosphere on the web!  I imagine you’re here because you want to know the secret to finding the best current deals and discounts on hiking, camping, and backpacking gear.  If you want to skip straight to how to find the deals, scroll down to the bulleted list.  But if you’d like to understand the back story of that list, keep reading.

For quite awhile, I searched the web to find a place that covered the best current deals and sales from big retailers like REI to smaller cottage gear companies, like Gossamer Gear.  I didn’t just want to find this place for myself though.

You see, I’m a search and rescue member in western North Carolina, and outdoor education is far and away this blog’s primary objective.  If folks head out into the woods without proper gear, then I pretty much suck at my job as a blogger trying to create a paradigm shift in preparedness.

I find that a lot of folks have no idea what to pack to keep them safe, and if they do know, they’re often plagued by sticker shock.  But here’s the thing:  Quality gear does NOT have to mean you sacrifice your retirement fund to hike safely, and I never want someone’s budget to limit their ability to outfit their packs with the gear to keep them safe.

So I created something to help seasoned pros and newbies alike find the best of the best current deals and sales.

What did I create, you’re probably asking by now?  A couple of things, actually.  And here’s how you can access them:

  • Check out and bookmark this page on my blog where I highlight the best deals that I find each day.
  • Join my Facebook group, Backpacking, Hiking and Camping Deals, where each day I post all the best sales and deals that I find in “real time.”  This is the best way to make sure you don’t miss time sensitive deals that sometimes expire within a few hours.  The sense of community in this group is alive and well and folks chime in regularly to comment about the gear I post.  We’re all united in our quest to find great gear at awesome prices (and especially to help newbies who don’t know where to start).

That’s it!  I sincerely hope you’ll join us because it really is a ton o’ fun to find a deal and share it with other like minded people.

And if you have something you’d like me to price watch for you, you’ll have a chance to do that if you join the Facebook group.  I monitor prices of individual items for folks all the time and have literally saved folks hundreds of dollars with the deals I find.  I’m pretty sure this is my superhero power. 🙂
