**At the time of this post, the item(s) listed are at the prices indicated.  Please note that prices can fluctuate as fast as spring weather on the A.T., especially on Amazon. So make sure to verify you’re still getting a good deal when you click on the links!

Best Day Pack Deals

Gonex 35L Daypack

Gonex backpacks come highly recommended from a couple of my Facebook group members.  Read below the photo for a testimonial to the 30L size.  Right now, this Gonex 35L Daypack is listed for $17.99, but there’s a 15% coupon you can clip in the listing which brings it to $15.29!  It comes in several color choices.

The only thing missing on this pack that might influence my own decision to use it is the lack of a hip belt and hip belt pockets (this girl’s gotta have her snacks on the go!), BUT, that’s an easy enough problem to fix with a waist/fanny pack.   The other way to fix this problem is to scroll down to see another Gonex 35L backpack that has a hip belt and pockets!

There’s also a 30L version of this pack for $15.99 with a 5% coupon, but obviously the 35L is a better deal right now (and I’d rather have the extra space in case I need it).

Gonex 35L Backpack with Hip Belt and Pockets

This Gonex 35L Backpack is a bit more expensive, but “expensive” is relative when you’re talking about a backpack with this many features and great reviews for $36.99!  This model has a hip belt with pockets, so it would probably be my personal pick over the one pictured above.

This model also comes with a built-in rain cover which is a nice feature.

I also like the elastic cord built into the front of this pack, to secure loose items I might want to grab on the fly, like a rain jacket or wind shell.

Here’s the testimonial about Gonex packs one of my Facebook group members: “If you’re looking for an inexpensive entry level backpack, I bought a Gonex 30L backpack on Amazon for about $25. It’s turned into my go-to daypack and you can’t beat the price! It has a shoulder strap, hip belt with pockets, an internal pocket where I hang my bladder, large internal pocket and two outer pockets, plus places for two water bottles/gear. And a rain cover! The raincover pouch is on the bottom and that’s where I store my first aid stuff. I’m just thrilled with this pack, and have used it for years, nothing is falling apart, I can’t say enough good things about a TWENTY FIVE DOLLAR PACK! Thought I’d share this for newbies who want to get into hiking and are overwhelmed by the costs of gear.”

Osprey 30L Skimmer Backpack

It almost seems futile to recommend a more well-known name brand after writing about the Gonex packs first, because of the price difference!  But since Osprey is such a good brand and this particular day pack is on sale for with a nice discount, it’s worth mentioning.

Features I like about the Osprey 30L Skimmer Backpack:

  • Hydration reservoir
  • Mesh back panel
  • Hip belt with pockets

It’s $78.00 (35% off) with free 2-day shipping at Backcountry.  It’s also $74 at Mountain Steals but you only get free shipping with orders over $99 right now.
