Omnia Oven Recipes and Harvest Host Review

by

Share on FacebookShare on PinterestShare on Email

In early March, my daughter, Paige, and I escaped the doldrums of late winter and headed to Hot Springs, North Carolina. We brought our new Omnia Oven and cocooned that evening in our ModVan to tinker with some recipe ideas for it. We stayed at a Harvest Host location, Paint Rock Farm, about ten minutes from Hot Springs.

This YouTube video outlines our favorite aspects of the trip and shows the various recipes we made. As promised in the video, here are the recipes we made and links to the resources I mention in the video.

Harvest Hosts Discount

If you’d like to purchase a Harvest Hosts membership, use this referral link to save 15% off the price.   The membership allows you camp for free within a network of over 1600 farms, wineries, and museums, as long as you are in a self-contained RV (and our ModVan qualifies).

We have stayed at two Harvest Host locations since getting a membership a couple of months ago, and we absolutely loved both of them. The other place we stayed was Catawba Farms near Hickory, NC. The food and beer were excellent, and we loved wandering around the farm visiting all the animals!

Where to Buy an Omnia Oven

The best deal I found on a bundle for the oven and accessories is at Camping World. It includes the oven, baking rack, silicone mold, muffin ring and storage bag.  It amounts to about a $20 savings.

Amazon also offers a bundled kit with a different configuration of accessories. If I had to do it over, I think this kit is more beneficial since it leaves out the storage bag (the oven comes with one anyway, it’s just not as nice) and replaces it with a second silicone mold.

The silicone mold retains odors to some degree, and it would be nice to have two for savory and sweet recipes. You’d have to purchase the muffin liner separately from the bundle, but it works out to be about the same price as the bundle from Camping World.

Tip for Silicone Mold Odors: You can stick the mold in your home oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for about 20-30 minutes, and that helps get rid of lingering odors. Just do a sniff test at the 20-minute mark to see if it still has odors. I’ve also read that sticking the mold in a bowl of hot water with a dishwasher capsule also does the trick.

If you’d like to purchase the items separately, Amazon seems to have the most competitive pricing (but it can fluctuate, so it’s probably best to check it against Camping World).  Here’s where I found the best prices on Amazon:

  • Omnia Oven
  • Silicone Mold
  • 2-pack of Silicone Molds
  • Muffin Ring
  • Baking Rack
  • Storage Bag

Recipes for Omnia Oven

I made two recipes in our Omnia Oven in the video, nachos and a frittata, both of which are fairly adaptable to your own dietary preferences.

Omnia Oven Nachos

Start by browning some ground beef (or ground turkey, Beyond Burger crumbles…whatever tickles your taste buds!).  Add taco seasoning per the instructions and a can of Rotel tomatoes with chiles (we felt this added a special touch).

Line your Omnia oven with the silicone mold, if you have one, then start layering!

We started with tortilla chips, topped with the meat mixture, black beans, and cheese. We repeated these layers three times.

Bake for 20 minutes (we used the lowest setting on our Modvan’s stove) for 20 minutes.

Add additional fresh and/or cold toppings after it bakes. We used diced avocado, black olive slices, pickled jalapeno, salsa, and sour cream.

Omnia Oven Frittata

Start with a base of:

  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup of milk (skim, whole, whatever you have on hand)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Then add whatever else you’d like!  We added the following to ours in the video:

  • Baby spinach (about a cup, torn)
  • About 1/2 cup of leftover Mexican cheese blend
  • 3 pieces of precooked bacon, crumbled.

We baked it in the silicone mold for about 20 minutes until it puffed up and cooked through.  The lowest setting on our stove burner did the trick.  Super easy and adaptable!

Additional Resources for Recipes

There is a great Facebook Group full of creative Omnia oven owners who share their recipes.

I also stumbled on a YouTube channel, Little House of Beans, that outlines creative recipes made in an Omnia oven.

I hope this is helpful but drop a comment or question below if you have any!

Happy trails,

Nancy
