**At the time of this post, the item(s) listed are at the prices indicated.  Prices can fluctuate though, so verify you’re still getting a good deal.  Also, some of these may be affiliate links which means I may make a small commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.  It’s how I’m able to provide quality outdoor education content at no cost, so I greatly appreciate your support. 🙂

These microspikes are on sale for great prices.  It varies between $11.81-$24.99, depending on your size but there are plenty of sizes on the low end of this spectrum.

Make sure to check out this brand as a comparison for your size and the price point, as they are also on sale (and my family owns a pair of these and have used them successfully).

My family used four different sets of off-brand microspikes similar to these on the Tour du Mont Blanc this past summer to traverse several snowy sections, and they worked well and held up fine.  I have a pair of Kahtoola Microspikes, which are widely considered the gold standard of microspikes; however, I couldn’t tell a difference between mine and the off-brand versions we had.  And for the price, and occasional use, I think these are a great buy if you might encounter situations where they’re needed.

Newbie Tips on Microspikes

If you hike in cold climates in winter, microspikes are a great thing to have in your pack. If you get to a point in the trail and encounter relatively dicey terrain with snow and/or ice, but turning around isn’t a great option (say you’re 10 miles into a 12 mile loop), they can make quick work of getting through safely.

Make sure you weigh the situation with a heavy dose of common sense.  If it’s a really precarious stretch that you need to traverse, you may want to consider backtracking, even with microspikes, especially if you’re not sure or haven’t ever used them. But they can be a godsend if you have them in your pack for certain situations!

You can find most of the deals I’ve found right here.  And to make sure you don’t miss any future deals I post, I invite you to join my Facebook group, Backpacking, Hiking and Camping Deals, where I post things as quickly as I find them!  It’s also a fabulous community of outdoor enthusiasts who are eager and willing to share their experience with various brands and products I find on sale.
