Montem Trekking Poles

**At the time I published this post, all items are at the prices indicated.  Prices can fluctuate as fast as weather on the A.T. in spring though, especially on Amazon. So check and make sure you’re still getting a good deal when you click on the links!

Montem Cork Handled, Locking Trekking Poles are on sale during a Lightning Deal tonight for 33% off, which brings them down to $39.99.  Several color options available and it appears that they’re all included in the sale.

I’ve read really nice things about these particular poles (and Montem, the company).  Wirecutter claims that they’re the “#1 pole for nearly everyone.”  Backpacker Magazine gives them a thumbs up as well with their review of them.

These poles are made from aircraft-grade aluminum 7075, so in other words, they’re durable. They also have EVA foam grips which is apparently less sweaty than cork, but it won’t chafe your hands over time like rubber.  They come with rubber tips and baskets and the adjustment mechanisms are “flick locks” which make them easy to adjust to your height or telescope down to a compact size that’s easy to travel with.  Montem also offers a lifetime replacement guarantee, so it’s hard to go wrong with that.  Their customer service is apparently outstanding.

It’s a Lightning Deal so don’t wait past ~11:15 p.m. EST (01/08/19) to get ’em if you want them.

If you don’t hike with poles already, you truly don’t know what you’re missing.  They provide so much more stability on a trail, especially on downhill stretches or unstable terrain.  And they reduce fatigue by helping you climb more efficiently.  And they’re a great place to wrap a small amount of duct tape around, in case you need it for a gear repair on the trail.  I can’t imagine hiking without them!
